We understand how much a broken appliance can negatively affect your whole day, from not getting dinner prepared to showing up to work in yesterday’s clothes. • Once a year, vacuum the refrigerator coils underneath the appliance. Particles like dust and pet hair can restrict air flow and cause your fridge to work harder than it has to.
• Vacuum the clothes dryer’s exhaust duct at least once a year. If the duct is plastic, replace it (it’s a fire hazard). Rigid sheet-metal ducting is best.
• Do a weekly rinse of 1 cup of vinegar in your dishwasher to keep it smelling fresh. Just be sure you don’t have any pots or plates in the dishwasher when you do this.
• Clean your air conditioner filters once every two to four weeks for optimum airflow. If you have a reusable filter, vacuum it to remove the dirt. On the other hand, if you have a disposable one, simply take it out and replace with a new filter.
• Spilled food can stop a stove burner from turning on. Gently clean your stove by grabbing a toothbrush and gently brushing off the spills from the igniter.
• Water filters can clog up from trapping sediments, which makes it difficult for water to pass through. It’s recommended to change filters every 3-6 months, and even earlier if you have already noticed a change in water pressure and color.
• Make sure to check your washing machine hoses for any weak spots or cracks to prevent any floods or leaks. We recommend replacing them every 5 years.
• If you think your dryer is not heating as well as it should, check if your lint filter is clogged. To test, run under water, and if it holds any, it’s time to put on the gloves, get a kitchen brush and start scrubbing!
